men in fancy dress
faces damaged by derision
and snide jibes.
Pretty girls in curlicues
dressed in white
counting the spaces
in between paces
while playing games
beneath a chiaroscuro sky.
Ken Simpson is an Australian poet whose latest collection, Patterns of Perception, was published by Augur Press (UK) last January. He has had over eighty poems accepted for publication in literary journals this year with a new collection about to be published by McCauley Publishers Ltd., and lives with his family at Lysterfield, a Melbourne suburb, in the state of Victoria.
