In broad daylight we
pass each other.
You see a person
no longer alive and
are blind to the
person who searches
your face, your eyes
for some reason to hope
that the love you say
you have for me is
really for me and not
for that remembered her,
the one you miss and
expect to see when
you look at me.
And I? I’m not sure
I’ve ever met the man
I see. It’s hard to tell.
It could be you or
you might be a stranger
