Remains of My Wasted Youth

There is sadness in your eyes

And I can see it.

I can see into the depths of your soul,

Into your mind, and straight to your core.

It lingers and dances down your spine,

Sending tiny little shivers of sorrow down

Each individual vertebrae.

The sadness builds deep inside,

Radiating a melancholy aura

That seeps through your pores.

It floats into the air

And wisps away into the sky.

But the sadness stays in your eyes.

When you look up, down and all about,

It escapes from your ever so haunting pupils

And into mine.

Pessimistic, dark, somber-

Your eyes, so incredibly beautiful.

With an immense boldness of captivity,

Your eyes grasp my gaze and never let it go.

I am taken aback by the despair,

Slowly melting away, cascading into invisible tears

Down your cheek and onto the floor.

Gloom fills a void

And nobody else sees it- except me.

Those who don’t mind, lack in observation.

While those who matter, pack in imagination-

And they understand.
